The people that do this aren't fooling any players into thinking that the game is more challenging or that it's longer than it really is. Since I didn't buy Pacific Assault either when it first came out, there was more bang for the buck (no pun intended). And set aside about 2.3 gigabytes of storage space for the v1.2 and 1.3 patches you'll need.Out of the entire MoH series, Airborne has the best graphics. And apparently, STILL, no one (that makes games like this at least) has learned that the Garand has a clip latch so you can eject and reload anytime you want. How in the world does looking down the sights of a gun prevent you from moving. Useful when running for cover, but I still wish you could go prone. And what's up with this checkpoint only lunacy. Many people already have a later version of the PhysX software installed; what were the developers thinking by having Airborne "insist" on installing the older version included with it. :)Here's a mix of the good and the bad:I'll have to start off with the utter stupidity of the installation process.
Why not give us the option of skipping it, just like so many games give the option of skipping the installation of DirectX. Unless someone knows of another way, you must uninstall the newer PhysX you're using, install Airborne and then reinstall the newer PhysX you were already using. I got this as part of the MoH 10th Anniversary edition, not when it first came out. I also found it amusing that using a specific weapon for melee kills also counts. I wish there were upgrades such as a scope for the Garand; it might not be historically accurate, but if you can see P40 Warhawks in the European Theater, why not a scoped Garand. You can lean, but that's all.You can't go prone, but you can start running while crouched and then stop and you'll automatically crouch. And I've lost count of how often the computer generated allies go to the SAME spot I'm using for cover and get in front of me, even while I'm shooting at an enemy. I've seen the enemy throw a grenade at a computer generated ally and then run into that same grenade.
Now I just have to figure what to do with my old (and extra) copies of Allied Assault, Spearhead and Breakthrough. But at least it's easier to live with this checkpoint setup in Airborne because completing an objective counts as a checkpoint and toward overall mission progress; even if you die before completing another objective, you don't have to repeat any previously completed objectives. Each mission has five "skill drop" points. But it has been surpassed by a contemporary like CoD 4 and even an older game like Half-Life 2. The music quality is still there, but I suspect it's because some of it was used in Allied Assault.I like the weapon upgrades since it's basically reward for skill. They're interesting challenges that can only be accomplished at the start of the mission, but be aware of the fact that after a certain point in the mission, the progress you've made will prevent you from trying to get those skill drops unless you wish to start the whole mission over. And beware of the AI being less than smart. Watch out for the "don't shoot" warning.
I mean I am already considering buying the other franchises of this game. This is my first medal of honor game that I played. I am a Call of Duty guy, but this game is a well deserved challenger of COD series. I found a good deal on amazon.comits the 10th anniversary and I recommend any one who is thinking of getting this game to get the whole package of the 10th anniversary its about the same value and the 10th anniversary packs lots more games. so a very good deal for new gamers to the medal of honor world like me.
While many game producers will skimp out or dedicate less resources to music development, MOH realizes how the music can enhance gameplay and more importantly, human emotions while playing. There are mixed opinions on the new "unlockable" content in the game such as awards and weapon upgrades. MOH has never been one to disappoint in this area. In fact, every jump you take will take you to the thick of it.
For a game that strives to be historically accurate, this is a very shocking addition. While this is an interesting addition and even educational to some degree, the flak tower inclusion enters in the same category as the "super soldiers" and makes you wonder if this isn't really Wolfenstein. With MOH's new title: MOH Airborne, you are taught the risky, yet effective art of parachuting behind enemy lines. In the past titles, players were forced to keep to an often strict linear game environment, however in MOHAB, you gamers will be treated to "options". These are achieved when you have gained a certain degree of proficiency with each weapon.
The most surprising aspect you will encounter in this game which deviates from both past MOH and even Call of Duty games is the introduction of "super soldiers." These are insanely powerful, individual nazi soldiers with extreme strength, armor, accuracy, and weaponry. If you liked the MOHAA soundtrack, I recommend buying this one as well. That is not to say that the possibilities are infinite and you can creatively construct attack plans, however you will have your choice of objectives and different ways to approach said objectives. Yes, but not right away.
The Medal of Honor series has taken us from the deserts of Africa, to the infamous shores of Normandy on D-Day, and even to Berlin. They can range from greater weapon stability to additions such as rifle grenades. While the new environments and additions to gameplay can offer gamers a significant degree of fun while playing, MOHAB is doomed to never reach "game of the year" quality. You will encounter a number of these or other unrealistic scenarios in the game that constantly make players shout "what the duck." Adding to the historical inaccuracy is a drop on what are called "flak towers." Now I do for a fact know that these flak towers did and still do exist, however I have never recalled a combat jump being made on them, nor can I understand the logic of why anyone would knowingly bring and aircraft anywhere close to one, let alone dropping troops directly on top of it in broad daylight. This will place you in strategic locations. Despite my grievances with the new inclusions of upgraded weaponry, super soldiers, and the fictional flak tower jump, as well as the fact that you are still a one man army expected to do everything from blow things up to take out tanks and now super soldiers, the game DOES offer a certain degree of fun. While this factor does bring some novelty into the game, especially the fact that combat is less linear and you actually have some decisions on how you wish to take an objective, it is obvious that not all new additions to the game are wise choices. The first thing I noticed in the game is the awesome soundtrack.
I did spend a decent amount of time playing, although the replay value on this title is just about nil. One interesting point is that you can land in a variety of locations when you begin or once you have died. Additionally, while there are only 7 "levels," each is designed to take a longer time than traditional game levels should take. So, should you buy this game. If you don't have money coming out your wazoo, I recommend picking this one up in the discount bin or by the time none of the newer titles work for your pc anymore.
Game would not even install.I hear its great yet it can't be played.
This really is a great game. There are all kinds of things you can climb or land on to attack from. I could throw out some minor cons, but its just not worth it to me. its also only one of a few of the WW2 games I have that I've actually gone back to play more than once. My opinion is for a 5 star review. You jump in and control where you land. And at the price, you cant beat it.The pace of the game really depends on the difficulty level you set it to.Took me a few days to get through, but my style of play is to really take in all the work and possibilities of the game. Its a WW2 playground.
I love the aspect of really having free will to go anywhere and complete any level as you want.If you die, your dropped in by plane again, and once again you control where you land to the best of your chute steering ability anywhere on the large maps.Aim right and your running around high roof tops shooting down at the enemy. Other games where your position on the enemy is crucial, kind of disappoints you when you look around your settings and wish you could get up on something that was designed for pretty much background looks. Its more Pros and I'd rather praise it. This is one game I hoped for a sequel to.Bet that wont happen. What a shame if so.for $10 buck, I'd but it again.
